What We Do
The main objectif of the Project is, reaching all the children all over the World, and providing them food, medication, physical health ,psychological support,education and appropriate living conditions.
Education is crucial for everychild to make a better future. Orphanes being targeted in our study, and according to our observation, they struggle with loneliness and poverty which cause many obstacles in their education. ‘I’am Here’ Project’s children, over age of 13 are defined as working on heavy industry and scrap dealing because they have to contribute to the family budget.
We aim to, make these children go back to school and complete their education. In this case, all the children who left the school, is supported on school and servise expenses. The families are guided about the disadvantages of the situation and directed to registering their children on school.
CLOTHING AND STATIONERY SUPPORT
Clothing and stationary needs are provided acoording to the child’s age, physical species (weight, height etc.), and education level, (primary school or high school). These needs are listed according to each children specific needs and supplied monthly.
Food packages are prepeared for each house’s number of child and distributed monthly. They include all the nutrituon groups of food, such as vegetables, fruits and proteins. The chidren’s age is determinative for ingrediants of the packages. If there is a baby in the house, the package is prepeared in pursuant of infant nutrituon. In this way, we purpose to minimize the malnutrition risk of babies.
Firstly, we analyze the living conditions of the children, according to houseS’ physical conditions, such as, heating, furnitures, and infeciton risks. Then, the deficients are determined, and the budget is made for each house’s specific needs. A budget of a house’s is not the same as another one. Each restoration determines its own cost based on its special needs.
Each child get healthchecked-up by our team member, Songul Koc. Then, their treatment plan are designed based on the check-up results. The children have ongoing treatment are being supported with medicaments. The ones who could not have been treated yet, are starting to the treatment in our contracted hospitals.
By treating children with cronic ilnesses, we aim to maximize the life quality of them and upgrade their social integration. The possible acute ilnesses are also can be treated freely by our contracted hospitals.
PSYCHOLOGICAL AND SOCIAL SUPPORT
PIn concern of the war, migration, and natural disasters, the prevelance of psychological problems/ mental illnesses between orphans is higher than the other children. So, all the children in our study is controlled periodically by out team member psychologyst Selin Özcan. We aim to minimize the possible psychological disorders, like post traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety disorder etc, by the way of applying cognitive behavioral therapy techniques.
The applied method, cognitive-behavioral therapy, aims to help people become aware of when they make negative interpretations, and of behavioral patterns which reinforce the distorted thinking. Cognitive therapy helps people to develop alternative ways of thinking and behaving which aims to reduce their psychological distress.
